Filters in the air conditioner
Currently, it is standard to equip air conditioners with air filters. The task of the air filter is to protect the evaporator exchanger against dust accumulation on the fins. If dust got into the exchanger, it could contribute to the development of bacteria harmful to our health, while reducing the efficiency of the device. However, air conditioners equipped only with a basic air filter are a rarity. Manufacturers of cooling and heating solutions more and more often use additional filters in their devices, which are designed to purify and treat the supplied air. What are the filters?
#1. Silver ion filters
Air filters with silver ions are very popular. Thanks to the technology used, these filters effectively fight bacteria and other microorganisms harmful to our health. Their additional advantage is the fact that silver ions strongly attract bacteria and microorganisms, thanks to which the air is thoroughly cleaned.
#2. Catechin filters
Some manufacturers of air conditioners rely on filters obtained from green tea. Catechin filters, because we are talking about them, have oxidizing and sterilizing properties. It is believed that this type of filter is able to neutralize dangerous bacteria and viruses, and even the harmful effects of cigarette smoke. The side effect of using the Catechin filter in the air conditioning device is clean and refreshed air.
#3. Photocatalytic filters
Photocatalytic filter is a solution that is not very common in residential devices or air conditioners for offices. Much more often it can be found in air conditioners designed for the needs of chemical laboratories and industrial plants. The filter is irreplaceable in combating bacteria and harmful nitrogen oxides, while effectively neutralizing the effects of the airborne smell of acetic acid, formaldehyde and ammonia.

The carbon filter is one of the most important and at the same time the most frequently used filters in air-conditioning devices. It effectively removes chemical compounds dangerous to our health, as well as pollen and dust from the air.
#5. Antibacterial filter
Antibacterial filters also play an important role in the construction of modern air conditioners. The antibacterial filter is one of the simplest and most effective filters used in air conditioning. Provided with bactericidal substances, it effectively slows down the metabolism of bacteria, affecting their ability to regenerate and reproduce.
On the list of filters used in selected devices, some manufacturers of air conditioners also include an air ionizer, which is an active electrostatic filter.
